Blue Monkey Joins ChessWithPass: First Official Apparel Released
ChessWithPass continues to grow beyond the chessboard.
Today we are introducing one of the first official apparel items connected to the ChessWithPass project — a T-shirt featuring the original Blue Monkey artwork by Alexey Fomin.
The front of the shirt displays the Blue Monkey painting, while the back asks a simple but unusual question:
"What move was missing from chess for 1500 years?"
For most people this appears to be a puzzle.
For ChessWithPass, it is the question that started everything.
The ChessWithPass project is built around a simple idea: after more than 1500 years of chess history, a player can voluntarily pass a move once during a game using the Pass Piece.
Whether people agree with the idea or disagree with it, the question itself invites reflection:
- Why must every move be an action?
- Can a pause sometimes be stronger than a move?
- What happens when waiting becomes a strategic option?

The Blue Monkey artwork was selected because it represents curiosity, independent thinking, and the willingness to look at familiar things from a different perspective.
This first apparel release is not only a piece of clothing. It is also a conversation starter and a symbol of the ChessWithPass philosophy.
The shirt is now available through the official ChessWithPass merchandise collection.
